BBC Bitesize Study Guides
A new format of study guides to coincide with new
Key Stage 3 content written for an August 2021 release. Research showed that the existing articles were too text-heavy, but that older students still valued stretch and depth.
The focus for this work was to design a flexible format, which included the option to break guides into
one-thing-at-a-time steps and a side nav to navigate to specific content quickly.

Desk Research
Based on existing Bitesize knowledge and Nielsen Norman’s Designing for Children report, it was clear that children have very specific needs at different ages. As we were designing one format, it had to flex to cater for all these needs.
